NDIS Support Coordination in Bendigo

Support coordination is a funded NDIS support that helps you put your plan into action. A support coordinator helps you understand your NDIS plan, find and connect with the right providers, set up your supports, and build your confidence to manage things over time.

Think of your support coordinator in Bendigo as your guide and project manager. They do the legwork of connecting the dots — informal supports, community services, mainstream services, and your funded NDIS supports — so it all works together.

If support coordination is funded in your NDIS plan, you are free to choose your own provider — you do not have to use whoever you are first offered. You can:

• Search the NDIS Provider Finder on the myplace portal
• Ask allied health, your GP, or a hospital discharge team for a referral

There are three levels of support coordination in the NDIS:

• Level 1 — Support Connection: short-term help to understand your plan and connect with supports.
• Level 2 — Coordination of Supports: the most common level. Ongoing help to build and manage your mix of supports and grow your independence.
• Level 3 — Specialist Support Coordination: for complex or higher-risk situations that need a specialist and a more intensive approach.

Our Bendigo team provides Level 2 and Level 3 support coordination.

They are two separate roles, and many people have both. A plan manager handles the money — paying your invoices and tracking your budgets. A support coordinator handles the practical side — finding providers, setting up supports, working on your goals, and being your go-to person when things get tricky. A support coordinator is your project manager for the whole plan. A psychosocial recovery coach specialises in mental health and psychosocial disability — focusing on your strengths, recovery goals, wellbeing, and navigating the mental health system. For people with complex mental health needs, the NDIS can fund both. Several of our Bendigo coordinators are also recovery coaches.

Support coordination is included case by case, based on what is “reasonable and necessary” for you. It is often funded when you have complex needs, several providers, safety or wellbeing risks, are new to the NDIS, or are going through a big life change. If support coordination is in your plan, it is funded from your Capacity Building — Support Coordination budget. It does not come out of your own pocket, and it does not reduce your other supports. Providers can charge up to the maximum price set in the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements, but no more. We are always upfront about how our funding is used.

Look for Capacity Building — Support Coordination in your plan. It may also appear as Specialist Support Coordination if you have more complex needs. It depends on your situation and how your funding was allocated. Some plans include enough for a couple of hours a month, while others include more where needs are higher. Your funding is a budget rather than a fixed roster, so we help you use it wisely across the year — and we can help you ask for more at review if it is reasonable and necessary.

Yes — the NDIS is built on choice and control. You can choose your support coordinator, and you can change them at any time if it is not the right fit.
