Behaviour Support Services Across Melbourne's South East
Melbourne's south eastern suburbs have a large and growing NDIS participant population — including high rates of participants with psychosocial disability and autism. 360 Support Coordination's BSP team in the south east is led by Shana, an Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, with specific expertise in these areas.
Referrers in the south east — including allied health professionals, support coordinators, LACs, and school-based disability support teams — can refer directly to Shana's caseload. Behaviour Support services are available as a standalone referral; participants do not need to be receiving support coordination through 360 SC.
Our approach is person-centred and culturally responsive. Shana works alongside families, support workers, and allied health professionals to ensure that behaviour support strategies are understood and consistently applied across all settings — home, school, day program, and community.
What Does a Behaviour Support Plan Involve?
A Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) is a formal NDIS document that outlines the participant's behaviours of concern, what function those behaviours serve for the individual, and evidence-based strategies to improve quality of life and reduce unsafe or restrictive practices.
Under the NDIS, a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner must develop any plan where restrictive practices are involved — including physical restraint, chemical restraint, environmental restraint, mechanical restraint, or seclusion. All plans are lodged with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission as required.
The south eastern suburbs BSP service covers the full range of behaviour support supports:
- Functional Behaviour Assessment — A comprehensive assessment identifying what function the behaviour serves and what is driving it — drawing on observation, interviews, and review of existing reports.
- Behaviour Support Plan Development — A practical, evidence-based plan with proactive strategies tailored to the participant's needs, environment, and cultural context.
- Restrictive Practice Authorisation — Preparation and ongoing review of restrictive practice documentation in line with NDIS Commission requirements, including reduction plans.
- Family and Carer Training — Training for families, carers, and support workers to implement strategies consistently across home, school, and community settings.
- Interim Behaviour Support Plans — Urgent interim planning where high-risk behaviours require immediate strategies while a full assessment is underway.
- Regular Plan Review — Structured review cycles to track outcomes, update strategies, and ensure the plan continues to meet the participant's evolving needs.
Who Can Be Referred for Behaviour Support?
Referrals are accepted from any professional or family member involved in the participant's life. Common referral sources include:
- Support coordinators identifying escalating behaviours of concern in a participant's plan
- Allied health professionals — occupational therapists, psychologists, speech pathologists — who have identified a need for a behaviour support plan
- Local Area Coordinators (LACs) supporting participants with complex support needs
- School-based disability support teams or early intervention services
- Families and carers who are experiencing behavioural challenges at home
- Support workers or day program providers observing behaviours that are affecting participation
To refer, you need the participant's name, NDIS number, a brief description of the behaviours of concern, and your contact details. Nothing else is required to initiate a referral.
